The IAEA adopted a resolution on the inadmissibility of Russian attacks on infrastructure critical to nuclear power plants
The Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at an extraordinary meeting initiated by Ukraine, adopted by 22 votes the Ukrainian draft resolution on the threats posed by attacks on energy infrastructure, which is of critical importance for the safety of Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
This is stated in the notification of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.
The resolution emphasizes the inadmissibility of attacks on electrical substations that provide external energy supply to Ukrainian nuclear power plants. Such attacks are recognized as a direct threat to nuclear security.
The document notes that these attacks violate the fourth of the seven integral principles of nuclear security identified by IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi, which requires a reliable external power supply for all nuclear facilities.
