French President Emmanuel Macron has appointed a new Prime Minister of France, Francois Bayrou.
“The President of the Republic appointed François Bayrou as Prime Minister and instructed him to form a government,” the Elysee Palace said in a statement.
73-year-old Francois Bayrou is an ally of French President Emmanuel Macron and leader of the centrist party MoDem (Democratic Movement). He stood as a candidate in the French presidential elections three times – in 2002, 2007 and 2012.
