The expert suggested ways to minimize the increase in gas transportation tariffs
Ukraine's decision not to renew the contract for the transit of Russian gas after December 31 is justified, but it inevitably affects gas transportation tariffs. This was stated by Vladimir Omelchenko, director of energy programs at the Razumkov Center. The expert suggested ways to minimize such growth.
“Today we have a situation where it was not Russia that initiated the cessation of transit, but the Ukrainian side, with the support of the European Commission, simply does not want to continue this transit. And this is correct. Why? Because from this transit, from the transit of oil and gas, Russia annually earns about 12 billion dollars. 12 billion dollars that are allocated to the budget for the war against Ukraine are unacceptable things,” Omelchenko noted.
