“Green” energy will make the Ukrainian energy system more resistant to Russian attacks
DTEK CEO Maksym Timchenko wrote about this in his column for the World Economic Forum.
“Ukraine's progress in the field of renewable energy stands out against the background of war and instability. This is not just following a global trend – it is a lifeline for the future of the country. As we rebuild and fight for our energy security, renewable energy offers a path to a more powerful, resilient energy system that is less vulnerable to attack,” he wrote.
Timchenko said that even after the loss of 500 MW of wind power capacity due to the invasion of Russia in 2014, DTEK doubled its investments in renewable energy and invested 1.4 billion euros in it.
