Two Russian tankers sank in the Kerch Strait — Svit

Damage to tanker hulls in the Black Sea threatens an ecological disaster.

In the waters of the Kerch Strait, the tankers “Volgoneft-212” and “Volgoneft-239” sank due to hull damage caused by waves. Both vessels were wrecked after the waves split them in two.

This was reported by rosZMI.

There were 13 people on board each tanker. The first ship, “Volgoneft-212”, carrying 4,000 tons of fuel oil, had already leaked a significant amount of fuel, forming a large black spot in the sea. As a result of damage to the hull of the tanker, the crew was in danger, and now rescuers are trying to evacuate people. A helicopter of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia arrived at the scene of the accident to help.
