Archaeologists have found a lifetime image of Constantine XI Palaeologus — Science and IT
A fresco depicting the last emperor of Byzantium, Constantine XI Palaeologus, was found.
In the Old Monastery of Taxiarches in the north of the Peloponnese peninsula, archaeologists discovered the only surviving image of the last Byzantine emperor Constantine XI Paleologus. The portrait was found on the second layer of a fresco created in the middle of the 15th century.
This was reported in the Ministry of Culture of Greece.
The Minister of Culture of Greece, Lina Mendoni, noted that the work of the Achaean Bureau of Antiquities is extremely important, as it allows for the discovery of unique archaeological finds related to historical figures.
