South Africa will not invite Putin to the G20 summit: what is the reason – UNIAN

The official representative of the South African president said that “the legal situation has not changed.”

The Republic of South Africa (RSA) will not invite Russian leader Vladimir Putin to the G20 summit. As you know, South Africa currently chairs the G20 and will host the event.

The official representative of the President of South Africa, Vincent Magwenya, in an interview with propaganda Russian media, said that the reason was the current warrant of the International Criminal Court for the arrest of the head of the Kremlin.

According to him, “the legal situation has not changed since the BRICS summit in Johannesburg (a city in South Africa).” Magwenya added that his country “cannot influence in any way” the decision of the ICC, and therefore, according to a court order, Putin must be arrested on the territory of countries that have ratified the Rome Statute.
