Due to high transportation tariffs, Ukraine is losing its position in the global metallurgy market
Metallurgical companies of Ukraine at the end of November reduced the export of flat rolled steel by 56.4% compared to the previous month. Compared to November 2023, volumes fell by 49.2%, to 66.2 thousand tons. The main reasons are unfavorable conditions on the global steel market, as well as internal challenges for the industry – in particular, high prices for transportation and gas.
Shipments of flat products fell to their lowest level since April 2023, when the industry was recovering from long-term power outages. Since then, exports have been kept at a level of no less than 100 thousand tons per month.
