Sanctions against the Russian Federation – Hungary has achieved the exclusion of Patriarch Kirill from the list of restrictions – UNIAN
This is not the first time that Hungary has opposed the introduction of sanctions against Patriarch Kirill.
Hungary achieved the exclusion of Patriarch Kirill, the Russian Olympic Committee and the Russian permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzi from the 15th package of EU sanctions. This was announced by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó, Russian media reported.
It is noted that this is not the first time that Hungary has opposed the imposition of sanctions against Patriarch Kirill. In 2022, the country blocked the introduction of restrictions against the abbot of the Russian Orthodox Church twice and argued that not a single religious leader should be included in the list of sanctions.
