Co-op Elden Ring will no longer be playable by two people
You will have to play through the game either in splendid isolation or in a company of three people.
At The Game Awards 2024, Elden Ring developers from FromSoftware presented the spin-off Nightreign, which should become the first cooperative Souls-like from the studio.
IGN interviewed the game director of the project, Junya Ishizaki, where he said that the game is not designed to be played by a pair of two people. Elden Ring Nightreign will be playable either solo or in a group of three.
Ishizaki explained that this is due to the peculiarities of the balance of cooperative projects. They say that only three players will be able to maintain equality in the team and no one will pull the blanket over themselves, taking the best loot and causing more damage to enemies:
