Ukrainian bandur player Ostap Kindrachuk died at the age of 87 — Ukraine

On December 18, Ukrainian kobzar and bandurist Ostap Kindrachuk died. He was 87 years old.

The tragic news was announced on his Facebook page.

“Ostap Yuriyovych passed away tonight. Bright memory!” – the message says.

Ukrainian journalist Vasyl Chepurny noted that Kindrachuk started playing the bandura in 1955 and in the late 1980s created the Ukrainian language society named after Amvrosy Metlynskyi, which later became Prosvita.

We will remind you that Ostap Kindrachuk was born in the village of Kotikyvka in the Ivano-Frankivsk region in 1937. He lived most of his life in Yalta and was the captain of a passenger ship at first.
