A New York couple who grew their own plants for personal use contracted histoplasmosis after inhaling spores of the harmful fungus with plant fertilizer, otherwise known as guano. One of the men, who was 59, bought guano online to use as fertilizer for his drug gardening. Another, a 64-year-old man, intended to use guano from his attic to feed cannabis plants, which he found after a significant bat problem.
