Residents of Mariupol are issued warrants for “houseless apartments” — Ukraine

Mariupol residents, who lost their homes in 2022 due to Russian shelling, began to issue warrants for so-called “homeless apartments”, that is, for apartments of Mariupol residents who left the city due to the blockade and occupation and are now unable to return.
This was reported by the Mariupol City Council.
“Apartments whose owners do not appear within the required time with supporting documents are handed over to the occupying authorities. After that, housing is handed over as compensation. This is because the occupiers destroyed almost 50% of the city's housing stock, and in more than two years only commercial buildings were built – for sale through a mortgage,” the city council reports.
