Tomorrow, December 20, in the Orthodox calendar the day of commemoration of the holy martyr Ignatius the God-bearer. One of the most famous early Christian saints, he was the second bishop of the Church of Antioch (after the Apostle Peter). He lived in the 1st-2nd centuries (about 35-107 years) and left a noticeable mark in the Christian tradition. He is called “God-bearer” because, according to tradition, he had a special closeness to God. Some sources indicate that Ignatius was the child whom Jesus Christ blessed in the Gospel, saying: “If you do not become like children, you will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven” (Matthew 18:3).

According to tradition, Ignatius was a student of the apostles John the Theologian and Peter. His upbringing was deeply rooted in Christian teachings.
