According to Baiba Braže, Russian should not be the only language used for communication among drivers in Latvia.
The head of the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Baiba Braze, complained about the driver of the Bolt service because of his communication in Russian and lack of knowledge of other languages. As she learned, the man turned out to be Ukrainian. She wrote about this on her page on the social network X.
The minister said that the incident occurred on December 14, when she was traveling to the old part of Riga. According to Brazhe, the driver Alexander “didn’t speak a word of Latvian.”
The diplomat added that the driver also did not communicate in English, French, Ukrainian, Dutch or German – only in Russian.
