On December 19, there was a shooting in the parliament building of the self-proclaimed republic of Abkhazia in Sukhum. As a result of the incident, deputy Vakhtang Holandzia died.

A verbal altercation broke out between Sukhumi ex-mayor Adgur Kharaziya and opposition MP Kan Kvarchia, during which the former pulled out a weapon and started shooting at Kvarchia.
Deputy Holland tried to disperse the participants of the fight. He was wounded and died. At the same time, Kvarchia was also wounded.
An investigative team arrived at the scene of the shooting.
