The German chancellor is trying to increase his political rating before the parliamentary elections.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz may visit Moscow on a “peaceful mission” to boost his political ratings ahead of early elections to the Bundestag on February 23.
This was reported by Der Spiegel with reference to its own sources in the Eastern Committee of the German Economy, which has contacts with the Kremlin.
The publication claims that Scholz will leave for Moscow “in the next few days.”
Since many German voters support a possible reconciliation between Kyiv and Moscow, as well as Germany's actions aimed at reducing the level of escalation, such a “peacekeeping mission” by Scholz can increase his personal political rating and the rating of the Social Democratic Party, which he represents.
