Open world video games promote relaxation and reduce stress. The long-term effect of this property of games may be used in the future for anxiety therapy.
These results were reached by researchers from Imperial College London and the University of Graz, Austria. The sample included 609 people with whom they conducted 32 in-depth interviews assessing the potential of video games for cognitive escapism, relaxation and mood enhancement.
