The American pilots who ejected after the attack on their plane were quickly evacuated.
Two U.S. Navy pilots were shot down over the Red Sea on Sunday in a suspected “friendly fire” incident, the U.S. military said, the most serious incident in more than a year in which U.S. forces have targeted Yemen's Houthis.

“The guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg, part of the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier strike group, accidentally fired at an F/A-18 and hit it,” Central Command said in a statement.
