Ukraine is betting on the free market to bolster its defenses, building an army of drones thanks to private companies that have sprung up since the start of a full-scale Russian invasion.

The Wall Street Journal writes about it.

One example is Ark Robotics, founded by entrepreneur Andriy Bondarenko. With no experience in military technology, he and a partner created the first ground-based explosive drone in a month.

“No government contracts or approvals were required,” the developers emphasize.

A year later, the company attracted more than a million dollars in investment and developed 20 new models of drones, including equipment for long distances.
