An increase in the tariff for freight transportation by 37%, which is proposed by Ukrzaliznytsia, will have catastrophic consequences for the economy, because it will lead to the shutdown of strategic enterprises and a reduction in foreign exchange earnings. Considering the state of the domestic industry, the government should introduce a two-year moratorium on increasing tariffs of Ukrzaliznytsia, and conduct an audit of the state-owned company to deal with the uncontrollable increase in costs. This is stated in a letter from the OP Ukrmetallurgprom (UMP) to Prime Minister Denis Shmygal, and to the Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine – Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine Alexey Kuleba.
