Forecasters report surprises expected in the middle of winter

According to meteorologists, the winter of 2024–2025 in Moscow will be abnormally warm. In January, the climate norm is expected to exceed the climate norm by 7 degrees Celsius, and in February – by 2 degrees.

However, December may bring surprises in the form of heavy snowfall, which is forecast to last 19 days, double the average of the last ten years. This is due to the interaction of warm Atlantic air with Arctic masses, which leads to powerful cyclones and snowfalls.

The combination of strong winds and snowfall will create a “wind chill” effect that can increase feelings of cold, especially for older people and people with chronic illnesses.
