Joining NATO – the US position regarding Ukraine's membership – UNIAN

The United States will work with Ukraine on its path to eventual NATO membership, but Washington's top priority now is making sure the Ukrainians can win the war.

John Kirby, Coordinator for Strategic Communications of the US National Security Council, announced this during an information telethon. He assured that the United States will increase assistance to Ukraine and make sure that it has everything it needs on the battlefield.

“President Biden made it clear at the last G7 summit that NATO membership will be in Ukraine's future. There is no doubt about that. We will work with Ukraine on its path to eventual membership in the Alliance, but the very first priority is to have confidence that it can win this war.”
