In Zaporizhzhia, a man named Kolesnikov received a life sentence for treason. He agreed to work for Russia, transferring data on Ukrainian military facilities and the movement of the Armed Forces.
His story became part of more than 3,200 treason cases opened after the start of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, according to Reuters.
Kolesnikov, a 52-year-old former civil servant, said he grew up in Soviet Ukraine and his father was a Soviet intelligence officer who worked in Cuba under the guise of a translator. In addition, his cousin works in the FSB of Russia. These connections made him an “ideal candidate” for Russian intelligence.
