The expert believes that the issue of territories is unlikely to be a subject of negotiations.
President-elect Donald Trump has announced that he intends to end the war in Ukraine. Samuel Charap, a senior political scientist at the RAND Corporation think tank, noted that the peace agreement will be aimed at preventing the renewal of the conflict, not at resolving territorial disputes.
He reported this in an author's article for Foreign Affairs.
Charap believes that the plan should include a ceasefire agreement, reliable security guarantees for Ukraine, punishment of Russia for aggression and stabilization of relations between Russia and the West. He also noted that the issue of territories is unlikely to be a subject of negotiations.
