Donald Trump intends to rename the highest mountain in the United States


The mountain was renamed by former US President Barack Obama in 2015.

The newly elected president USA Donald Trump announced his intention to rename the highest point of the country – Mount Denali in Alaska, and return it to its state name – McKinley, (25th president of the United States).

He said this during a speech the day before in Phoenix, reports Fox News.

“McKinley was a very good, maybe a great president,” Trump said.

The mountain was renamed by former US President Barack Obama in 2015. The new name should reflect the traditions of the native inhabitants of Alaska, as well as the preferences of many residents of this region, since the word “Denali” was used by the Athabaskan tribe, which means “tall” or “great”.
