Polar explorers from the Ukrainian station “Akademik Vernadsky” took an impressive video on the day of the summer solstice, December 21.
According to the Facebook page of the National Antarctic Science Center, daylight lasted almost 22 hours and 25 minutes – the sun began to rise at 02:02 and set at 00:27. The shortest day over Galindez Island is expected on June 20, it will last almost 3 hours 24 minutes:
“We remind you that in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres the seasons are in antiphase. That is, when it is winter in Ukraine, it is summer in Antarctica.”
