Pioneer vessel – people are afraid to buy Russian gas because of sanctions – UNIAN
The Pioneer vessel is under Western sanctions.
The Pioneer vessel, which was carrying a sanctioned shipment of Russian liquefied natural gas, appears to be unloading the fuel into a storage facility in the Russian Far East. Bloomberg reports this.
The Pioneer, which was carrying cargo from the Russian Arctic LNG 2 plant, moored on Thursday near the Koryak floating storage facility in Kamchatka. The Russians will probably store gas there until they find a new buyer.
Pioneer was spotted on satellite images in early August when it was picking up a shipment from Arctic LNG 2. In the following months, the ship “traveled” around the world in search of clients.
According to experts, this case demonstrates how significantly US sanctions hinder Russia’s plans to increase LNG exports.
