Already in this century, the world may face a new volcanic super-eruption. According to Interesting Engineering, in 1815, Indonesia experienced the most powerful volcanic eruption in history on Mount Tambora, the consequences of which were felt by the whole world.
A huge plume of ash cooled the planet, and the following year went down in history as the “Year Without a Summer.” Global temperatures plummeted, crop yields plummeted, causing global famine, and a cholera pandemic claimed thousands of lives.
