Disaster in Aktau – witnesses told what happened on board before the fall – UNIAN
Most people survived because they were in the tail section of the plane, which separated during the fall.
Before Azerbaijan Airlines Flight 8243 crashed into the ground in Aktau, Kazakhstan, chaos, panic and shock reigned on board. Of the 67 people on board, only 29 survived, among them flight attendants Zulfugar Asadov, Aidan Rahimli and passenger Subkhonkul Rakhimov. They shared their testimony in an interview with The New York Times.
According to Asadov, the Embraer 190 plane tried to land in Grozny three times, but began to behave strangely. The flight attendant heard a strange knocking sound from outside the plane, then something cut his hand.
“Thank God, I’m alive,” Asadov said from his hospital bed in Baku.
