Fraudsters are using new schemes to hack accounts on government services

VTB specialists have identified a new scheme for scammers, which is aimed at using client data to withdraw funds. After the first attempt at deception, which often ends in failure, they began calling the victim back under the guise of government employees. Confirming that fraudsters previously called the interlocutor, they request a personal code under the pretext of restoring access to the account.

Attackers call from an unknown number. Pretending to be employees of government agencies, they report the presence of a registered letter, for example, from the tax service, and ask what address to send the notification to – electronic or postal.
