Missing people – the Ministry of Internal Affairs named the number of Ukrainians in the Register – UNIAN
If a soldier dies, he still remains on the Missing Persons Register until the body is returned, the deputy minister noted.
More than 50 thousand people, both military and civilian, are considered missing in Ukraine. This statement was made by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Leonid Timchenko.
“As of today, there are 53,868 people who are considered missing under special circumstances. These are both civilians and military. There are also children among them,” he said on the “We are Ukraine” TV channel.
According to Timchenko, regarding missing military personnel, investigators and criminal investigation officers receive the necessary information both from their brothers-in-arms and from intelligence agencies.
