Peace talks with Russia: security guarantees for Ukraine became a priority — NYT


The territorial issue is extremely important, but a secondary issue.

After the victory in the elections of US President Donald Trump, who promises to quickly end the war in Ukraine, in future peace negotiations with Russia, the priority for Kyiv has become obtaining security guarantees against further aggression, and not the final cease-fire line.

This was reported by The New York Times on Wednesday, November 13, with reference to two high-ranking Ukrainian officials.

“Negotiations should be based on guarantees. There is nothing more important for Ukraine,” Roman Kostenko, head of the Committee on Defense and Intelligence of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, is quoted as saying by the publication.

Another high-ranking Ukrainian official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, bluntly stated that the territorial issue is an extremely important but secondary issue….
