A 98-year-old man married a lover two years younger

In the USA, a 98-year-old man married his 96-year-old lover.

Bernard Snyder and Joe Cartwright, both widowed, share a retirement home in Austin. After knowing her for several years, Snyder began to fall in love with Cartwright. He plucked up the courage to invite her to his birthday party in January, and to his delight, she came. He also invited two of her friends to increase the chances of her coming.

“On his birthday, I was very aware that he was constantly looking at me,” Cartwright recalled.

When Snyder later confessed to his cousin that he had fallen in love with Cartwright, he urged him to make his move. It had to be bolder than a simple birthday invitation.

“If you are interested in this young woman, give her flowers and ice cream,” he recalled his cousin's advice.
