A document forgery network used by Ukrainians was exposed in Romania


10,000 fake documents were produced in one commune in Botosani alone.

A huge network of providing forged documents to Russians, Ukrainians and Moldovans was exposed by the prosecutor's office in the east of Romania. It included officials from two city halls.

This was reported by the publication Digi24 with reference to the General Prosecutor's Office of Romania.

On Wednesday, November 20, 90 searches were conducted in a case in which civil servants from Botoşani County are suspected of receiving bribes for issuing false identity documents to citizens from the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Russia.

The fake documents certified the residence of persons at different addresses, without the knowledge of the owners, by drawing up false certificates. In some documents, the surnames, date of birth or other data of the people who bought them were changed.
