A 28-year-old Ukrainian man, who fell into an almost 400-meter ravine in the Maramures mountains, was rescued after five and a half hours of efforts by mountain rescuers and border police.

The kitten he took with him played a special role in his survival. The cat stayed with the man for more than 24 hours. According to the rescuers, it was the cat that managed to help the Ukrainian save his strength and stay alive until the moment of rescue.
The operation to extract the Ukrainian was extremely difficult: the slope of the ravine had a slope of 50%, and the rescuers had to operate in conditions of severe cold and snowfall. After the man was pulled out, the support team brought hot tea and food for recovery.
