The Canadians were considered the obvious favorites in this game, but in the end they were defeated in shootouts – 2:3. During regulation time, Jett Lucianko (24th minute) and Calum Ritchie (55th minute) scored goals for Canada, while Erik Matejko (54th) and Peteris Bulans (58th) scored for Latvia. The author of the only successful shootout was Erik Matejko.
