A pulsed flare occurred on the Sun, which is why a magnetic storm is expected on Earth. This is reported by The Watchers.
The largest and most powerful X-class flare reportedly began at 08:50 UTC (10:50 Kyiv time – UNIAN) on December 8, 2024 and ended at 09:10 UTC (11:10 Kyiv time).
A coronal mass ejection is reported to have occurred during the flare.
Additionally, a radio burst of 3 minutes duration was associated with this event, indicating significant radio noise. This noise is usually short-lived but can cause interference with sensitive receivers including radar, GPS and satellite communications.
