An Indian worshiper who accidentally dropped his iPhone in an offering box at a Hindu temple while making a donation was told the phone was now the property of a deity and could not be returned.

Last month, a man from Chennai, who had visited the Arulmigu Kandaswamy temple in Thiruporur with his family to pray, felt his iPhone slip from his pocket into the hundred – a metal donation box – just as he was making an offering to the temple's patron deity.
