The bear seriously injured the man.
In the far north of Canada, a man threw himself at a polar bear to save his wife from an attack. The incident happened in the small community of Fort Severn First Nation in northern Ontario.
This was reported by the BBC publication.
Nischnaube-Aski police said the couple left their home in the early hours of the morning to find their dogs. A bear rushed at a woman on the driveway.
“The woman fell to the ground, and then her husband jumped on the animal to prevent the attack,” the police said.
The bear seriously injured his arms and legs, but a neighbor with a gun intervened in time, shooting the animal several times. The bear later died in the forest.
The man was taken to the medical center, where he was given the necessary assistance. The police assure that they are monitoring the area to prevent new bear attacks.
