Over the past five years, Shuraf Ishida has spent the night in more than 500 different houses. After quitting his job, he decided to sell all his belongings, except for a few essentials that fit in his backpack, and travel around Japan with his savings. Housing costs are usually at the top of his list of expenses, but the 33-year-old found an ingenious way to get a roof over his head for free.
