How to get rid of moss and lichens in the garden
Preparing the garden for winter includes pruning fruit trees, feeding the garden and protecting it from pests and diseases.
Before cutting the trees, the trunks are usually cleaned and treated from layers of lichens and mosses.
At first glance, it seems that the problem of lichen is purely aesthetic, trees covered with spots just look bad. But not only that – moss and lichens on the bark block the breathing of the tree, slow down its growth and reduce the yield. And most importantly, pests hibernate in thickets of mosses and lichens, spores of fungi – parasites hide. Therefore, combating lichens, especially in old gardens, is a mandatory stage of preparation for winter. And late autumn, after the leaves have fallen, is the best time to deal with the problem.
