A Ukrainian football referee died in the war against the Russian occupiers
On war a Ukrainian football referee died against the Russian occupiers Andriy Shchepotiev.
The tragic news was reported by the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF).
The 30-year-old from Kharkiv worked at children's and youth football matches and amateur league meetings, was a trainee at the National School of Referees (2020) and worked as a coach for the local “Arsenal”.
After the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, Shchepotiev joined the ranks of the Armed Forces. He died while performing a combat mission in the Kharkiv region.
“On behalf of the Ukrainian Football Association and the entire football community, we express our sincere condolences to Andrii's relatives and friends.
Glory to the Hero! Eternal memory…”, the UAF post reads.
It was previously reported that the father of the Shakhtar player died at war with the Russian invaders.
