American defense giant Lockheed Martin has revealed a prototype missile system that will be able to launch 4 times more missiles than the M142 HIMARS. This is reported by The War Zone.
The Logistic Vehicle System Replacement (LVSR) machine was used as the basis for the new system. It is equipped with four universal launch cells, each of which can carry six 227 mm GMLRS guided missiles. Therefore, the total number of missiles is 24 units.
In theory, in addition to GMLRS missiles, one cell can accommodate two PrSM missiles, or a launch container for an ATACMS missile.
All of these options are used for the M142 HIMARS. However, whether the new system will be able to carry this entire arsenal is unknown.
