An English prospector recently discovered a rare gold ring, more than 500 years old, worth more than £10,000 (over $12,600) in Salisbury, Wiltshire.
This was reported by the Daily Mail.
The find was made during a meeting of searchers using a metal detector. The ring, dating from the 14th-15th centuries, impresses with its craftsmanship and excellent condition.
The owner of the find, Paul McLaughlin, a steelworker from South Wales, spent two years looking for valuable artifacts, but this gold ring was his first big discovery. Made of high quality gold, the ring features an engraving of Saint Christopher and the French inscription “MON CUER AUET”, which translates as “You have my heart”.
