On December 25, an important power transmission line between Finland and Estonia failed. Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo announced this.
“The Estlink 2 power line between Finland and Estonia went down this afternoon. Even on Christmas, the authorities are awake and investigating the incident. The loss of communication will not affect the supply of electricity to the Finns,” his statement said.
Meanwhile, Arto Pahkin, head of Fingrid's dispatch service, which manages Finnish power grids, said the cause of the fault was being investigated.
“The possibility of vandalism cannot be ruled out. However, we are considering the situation as a whole and will report the cause of the malfunction when it becomes known,” he is quoted as saying…
