An international team of scientists has mapped the genome of the Greenland shark as part of ongoing efforts to extend human life.
In a new study, they looked at one of the few species that outlives humans given our body type: the Greenland shark from the North Atlantic and Arctic Oceans. It is in preprint stage.
As Interesting Engineering writes, back in 2016, research showed that Greenland sharks are the longest-living vertebrates, which sparked interest in uncovering their secrets: they can hide in deep waters for up to 400 years.
