Before the New Year, authorities in many regions canceled fireworks displays. According to experts, fireworks will not be launched in every third subject of the Russian Federation. Deputy Head of the Federal Mediation Center Vladimir Kuznetsov explained that a strict ban was introduced only in regions bordering Ukraine due to enhanced security measures. In other constituent entities of the Russian Federation, the decision to cancel fireworks displays was made for the following reasons:
Financial savings: Staging fireworks displays requires budgetary funds, which is undesirable in the current economic climate.
Ensuring the safety of citizens: the use of pyrotechnics carries the risk of fires and injury to people.
The abandonment of fireworks is dictated by environmental, economic and safety considerations.
