Kazakh boxer Ivan Dychko (14-0, 13 KOs) explained why at one time he decided to turn professional instead of a third attempt to win Olympic gold, Sports.kz reports.
Dychko became a bronze medalist at the 2012 Games in London and the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Since 2017 he has been performing in the professional ring.
– On the third [Олимпиаду] I didn’t go because I had a lot of competitions. And this is not only physical training, it is also emotional fatigue from the situation, from the system. And the system of training an athlete is barracks-like, regimented. I'm tired of her. Ten years in the regime, in a barracks situation. You don’t understand – are you in prison or in the army? Maybe there is something third, some kind of symbiosis (smiles). I don't like it….
