Azerbaijan Airlines has suspended flights from Baku to the Russian cities of Grozny and Makhachkala. The flights have been canceled pending the completion of the investigation into the plane crash that happened on Wednesday, December 25.
This was reported by the Azerbaijani publication Trend with reference to the statement of Azerbaijan Airlines.
“Flights to other AZAL destinations are carried out according to the regular schedule,” the airline said in a statement.
In connection with the plane crash, December 26 was declared a day of mourning in Azerbaijan.
It will be recalled that the Embraer 190 passenger plane of the Azerbaijan Airlines flying on the Baku-Grozny route crashed 3 km from Kazakhstan's Aktau airport. More than three dozen people died as a result of the disaster. Fortunately, 25 passengers of the plane survived the wreckage.
